Accredited Membership is available to experienced estate liquidators with at least five years of professional experience, a substantial record of estate sale activity, and a demonstrated commitment to the estate liquidation industry.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply for Accredited Membership, applicants must:

  • Have at least five years of professional estate liquidation experience
  • Document at least 50 estate sales for unique clients within the last three years
  • Complete the Accredited Membership Application and Agreement
  • Agree to follow the ASEL Code of Ethics
  • Provide three professional references
  • Provide documentation of the business’s legal registration or organization, as applicable
  • Confirm compliance with the business registration, licensing, permit, and other operating requirements that apply in their location
  • Demonstrate a record of professional conduct, including appropriate responses to public reviews or complaints
  • Submit the required written thesis
  • Pay the applicable membership fee

The estate sale record should include dates and general locations. Client names and sale numbers are not required. Applications and supporting materials are reviewed by ASEL before acceptance.

Industry Perspective Statement

Applicants must submit a 750–900-word Industry Perspective Statement responding to one of the subjects below. The statement should explain the applicant’s perspective, provide specific examples, and consider the topic’s effects on the estate liquidation industry.

Choose one of the following subjects:

  • Current trends affecting the estate liquidation industry
  • Improvements that would strengthen the estate liquidation industry
  • Whether and how the estate liquidation industry should be regulated
  • The future of the estate liquidation industry

Membership Fees

  • First year: $150
  • Annual renewal: $99

Membership must remain active and in good standing to maintain member benefits, use the ASEL membership logo, hold the Accredited Estate Liquidator designation, and appear in the Find a Liquidator directory.
